Security and MDW

I have a couple of questions. We are running Access 2003 and just converted
to a SQL environment. I have all the users joined to the same mdw file.
When I used to have to make security updates (prior to conversion), I would
make them while I was in the MDB and all worked well. Now, if I make them in
the MDB file, they do not work. If I make them in the MDE file they do.
Why? I was under the impression, the mde file contained the forms, queries,
reports etc and had nothing to do with the mdw file. Can someone assist me
in clearing this up as to what is in what file and where I should be making
the security changes?

Thank you in advance.

If you moved to SQL Server; I think that you should be using 'Access
Data Projects'.

User Level Security in Access _SUCKS_ compared to row level security
in SQL (enforced using views)
