AFter searching for this here, I thought it might be a virus, but I did not
see anyone else posting the specific message I am getting from the security
account manager.....

complete message is something like "A device attached to your system is not
functioning".....will reboot.

so..... i try and go into safe mode... no can do. I get just ust a stream of
file info from /windows/system32, including las.exe, then a reboot

so.... since I just reformatted this disk from a major crash and reinstalled
everything including sp2...i think maybe it's the disk again... so... I load
up os cd in cd drive and go into recovery console and run chkdsk... disk is
in good shape. hmmmm

is this the sasser/lass.exe virus one? if not, any and all ideas would be so
welcome..... chocolate chip cookies for all! IF so, just direct me to links
to how I can repair this from recovery console hopefully?

thanks smart guru people,

and btw, ran norton, spybot, shreeder and adaware after system was
rebuilt.... system was fine for 4 days......

arg...... they need an 'edit' function here....

but and yes, firewall is/was enabled
