--I know I should know this but do not. In IE6 when lets say I order from
Amazon I get a lock in bottom of web page showing its a secure site. I bought
my wife a new laptop with IE7 which I do not like so I havnt upgraded mine
yet but when she is in a secure siter that lock icon is not there. Is there a
checked box I need to do or is there something else to do or isnt there a
lock any more--Thank you as always for the help--you all here are a great
bunch of people who are always willing to take the time to help someone out--

The lock icon is there, it just isn't at the bottom. I believe it's
somewhere at the top but I don't have IE7 on any of the machines so I
can't check for you. Do a Google Groups Advanced search for the topic in
the IE7 newsgroup:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

You can also check MVP Sandi Hardmeier's canonical IE7 site. Sandi has
workarounds, known issues, troubleshooting, and links. This may be the
only site you need.

In Internet Explorer, you will see a lock icon in the Security Status bar.
The Security Status bar is located on the right side of the Address bar.

The certificate that is used to encrypt the connection also contains
information about the identity of the website owner or organization. You can
click the lock to view the identity of the website.
