Secure email and attachements advice needed please.

Hi,
I want to be able to send secure encrypted emails and attachments from
within Outlook 2000 and 2003. Can someone point me in the right direction on
how to do this? Do I need to buy a separate software add on (if so which
one?). Can it be done for free? Are there many levels of security?

Any advice greatly received as I have been looking on the internet and
become very confused.
