Section/Chapter & Page Numbers

I currently have a manual that is broken down in to sections and the page
numbers appear as Section# - Page#. i.e. 1-1, 1-2 and so on.

The manual is being redone and my boss wants it broken down in to 3 chapters
as well. The new page numbers would look like this
A1-2, A1-2.....B1-1, B1-2,............C1-1,C1-2......

Is this possible and if so how do I do it?

Set up outline numbering for the built-in headings so that Heading 1 is
numbered "A,B,C,..." and Heading 2 is numbered "1,2,3,..." (see
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html) . Then
follow the instructions at
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/numbering/chapternumber.htm, choosing to include
the numbering of Heading 2 with page numbers.
