Secondary HD files "Access Denied" after foreign import - Help!

My PC's Primary HD died. My tech support group installed a new HD and got
everything setup as before. After all was setup, the pre-existing Secondard
HD was re-attached. The secondard HD was recognized as a "Foreign Dynamic"
drive using the Disk Management utility. The drive was then successfully
imported using the provided right-click menu option.
All users (Administrators and myself) were assigned full access rights to
the secondard HD.
When the drive is now accessed, the root directory structure is shown, but
all the folders, and the files at the root level generate a "Access Denied"
message. All these same folders and files show full access to all when the
security tab is viewed on the properties page.
Any help? Why can I no longer open these folders/files??
Thanks for the help.

Have you tried taking ownership of the root? Tried chkdsking the drive?
What about logging in as the Administrator and trying to access them?
Are (were) any of the folders/files you're trying to access EFS encrypted?

I've tried it all, except trying to take ownership f the "root". How do I do
that, I'll give it a try.

:

Right-click it, go to Properties, Security, Advanced, Owner, choose a User
to set to the Owner, click "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
then click "OK".
