Secondary Hard drive can't be accessed after SP2 install

I have a SP0802N hard drive which I have been running as a secondary hard
drive under XP Pro with no problems since earlier this year. When I install
SP2 it no longer appears. It is in Device Manager, but within Disk
Management it shows as Offline. I cannot reactivate it - in System Event
Viewer I get the messages "Internal Error - The disk group contains no valid
configuration copies (C10000B6)" and "Disk group ComputerDg0: Errors in some
configuration copies: Disk Harddisk1, copy 1: Block 256: Invalid magic
number in the configuration copy". I could probably convert it to a Basic
Disk but would then lose all my data (30 odd Gb worth!). It's a Dynamic Disk
on NTFS.
If I do a System Restore to the point before installing SP2 it appears
again!

What can I do to get it back please?!!!!

I assumed it was faulty, and took it back to PC World (it was less than 12
months old). I then bought a new 120GB from lowestonweb.com for only £8 more!

So, a good result after all the frustration!!
