Second window openings

Lately, each time i click on an e-mail link to go to a site, a blank IE
window opens and then a second, smaller one, opens the link.

When I am done, I have to close both pages. This is aggrivating. Is there
any way to make this stop and work the way it used to.

WinXP home and IE6 on this system
