second window minimized

No matter what I do, I cannot make my second window open maximized. I've
minimized, stretched, maximized and closed/exited the window last, and
always, always, my second window is minimized. Any ideas? Thanks much.

Close the first window. Use your mouse and stretch out the second window as
much as possible and then close it while holding down the Ctrl button.

What do you mean by "second window"?
 
Any other next window but it's fixed...after months of agonizing. See my
note to Bud.

What do you mean by "second window"?
 
Bud: I'll try holding the down control the next time this happens but what
I did was close all my open windows by using file/close or exit so that the
only window open was the fully stretched minimized window. I closed that
last using file close. Then I opened it, maximized it, and file/close.
Every window now opens maximized. Thanks for your help Bud.
