searching within address bar

Somehow I got this program that switched my search from
MSN to some advertising engine. I got rid of that but I
still cannot search within the address bar. If I do the
page comes up not found. How can I fix this? I can search
through the sidebar but I prefer to just be able to
search through the address bar on my browser

In Internet Explorer Menu: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced tab
Scroll down half way to:
Search from the address bar...
When searching.... select a mode.
Click Apply.
