Searching old e-mails

My Outlook recently stopped searching e-mails dated prior to three weeks ago.
The emails are still in the inbox, and I can access them manually - but
every new search only looks back to the three weeks ago date, making it
harder to look back at history. There was a malware issue that happened
three weeks ago on my system, but everything is back up and running smoothly
except this aspect of Outlook. Any ideas? Thanks

Using Outlook 2007?
Check your pst-file for errors and rebuild the Search Index.

yes check if your pst files are not corrupted and try new indexing.
I'd also recommend a small search plugin I'm using with Outlook called
Lookeen. It uses less system resources for indexing emails etc. and it
is pretty fast, too. You can check out more information here www.lookeen.net
