It's unclear what you are asking for, however, you can search for files
using a variety of filters or 'search behavior' with the Search utility.

Start > Search > "For Files and Folders". Select "All files and folders".
For example you can search for jpeg and bitmap images by entering this
filter *.jpg;*.jpeg;*.bmp. You can also search using filename wildcards * ?,
by file size, and date as well.

Thanks for the responses. Actually what I am wanting to do is add metadata
(keyword) to an existing known (location) file thereby enabling a search, via
explorer window, on that keyword.

What type of files are you searhing? You may have to use Advanced Search
in Office application.

Turning on Windows indexing will find at least Office files that way.
But you may have varying amounts of success with "various file types".

Are you referring to doing searches for the "keywords" you can add to the
Properties dialogs for files, which can be entered under the file's
Properties Summary tab?

IF so, good question! I think those can only be accessed via the
datastreams but I don't know how. I have wondered about its usefulness
myself.

Hi Pop,

Yes...that is exactly what I am wanting to do. I was hoping to use the
keywords to search a shared drive.

Thanks
