Searching for contacts when in Mail mode - Outlook 2007

In Outlook 2003 you used to be able to type a name in 'search address books'
and it would search all of your contact folders. However in Outlook 2007 it
only searches one folder, it is really frustrating when I am trying to update
my contacts as I have to keep going backward and forwards between mail and
contacts.
I tried phoning the support but they refused to try and help me. Don't you
just hate microsoft sometimes?

Nothing has changed. Clarify which of Outlook's search methods you are using
and why you are convinced it has changed.

Hi Russ

In the old outlook the drop down list showed all my contact folders - it's
the same when I try and send an e-mail the only options are:
Outlook address book (which says no entries in this address book)
Contacts (which only shows the names in one folder)
Global address list - which only shows my e-mail address
All address lists - when I click this it says 'the bookmark is not valid'

In the old outlook the drop-down list had all my contact folders (over 20 of
them)

Your Contact Folders will only show in the address book view if you enable
them as email address books in their properties. It's always been that way.
You are mistaken, however, if you think Outlook will search all those
folders from the address book view. It will only search until it finds a
hit, then stops without going to subsequent folders.

Thanks Russ - what a faff! Is it possible to do them all in one go rather
than changing them all individually.

No. That's one of the many drawbacks to having so many folders. There are
usually better ways to organize your Contacts than creating so many folders.
