I can search for a file by start/search in WinXP, but when I right click on
a folder inside explorer and select search, I get a message box titled with
the directory name (i.e. "C:\Windows") and the error message "There was a
problem sending the command to the program." and an OK button. Any
suggestions?

Thanks.

If you are using ZoneAlarm, allow access to Windows Explorer. If this does not help, reset the security settings in ZoneAlarm. See: http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=gen&message.id=9114
