Searching Files by Metadata

I have been attempting to keyword many of my files and to find a method to
search by "keyword" or "category". I don't see any obvious way of doing
these searches. All of my research has led me to Windows Desktop Search,
however after downloading, I still don't see the ability to search your local
hard drive by metadata.

Are these files from MS-Word, Excel, etc.?

With Office 2003 (maybe other versions too), start Word and use:
File > Open

In the "Open" dialog box, use:
Tools > Search

In the "Search" dialog box, use the "Advanced" tab.

There you can search for files by property values.

(I haven't used this feature personally, but I've seen it. Does it work
ok?)

Sounds like you are experiencing the same thing as me. I am keywording all
of my video files. All MS files are able to be keyworded, however, what do
you do with the keywords once they are saved? Perhaps someone else will have
an answer.

Although I do see the "Windows Destop Search" folder in Outlook, no matter
what I search for, nothing comes up in the display. There is never any data
found. What am I doing wrong?
