Searching contacts for to:

When sending an email, is it possible to have outlook search your contact
list while typing in the to: cc: bcc:? I would like the ability to type in a
name and have it auto lookup in my contact list based on the characters that
have been type in the to: cc: and bcc: fields. If it does this already then
I am having issues w/ outlook because mine is not doing this. It just lists
people that I have sent emails to before.

Thanks

Under the menu Tools|Options|Preferences|email Options| advanced email
options button, tick the box that says "check names when completing..." You
can experiment with the other box to check names which apparently is ticked
on your system.

My configuration was slightly different from what you said. I had
Tools-options-email options - advanced email options. i did not have a
preferences there. But i have checked the boxes for -Automatic Name Checking
and -suggest names while completing To,Cc and Bcc fields. When typing out a
new email this still only searches for names that I have already sent emails
to. Not people that are in my contact list. For instance I have a person I
entered into my contact list as John Smith, but have not sent an email to
him. If i start to type John or Smith in the To: box it doesn't come up with
his name. Also could this have been caused because i have imported my
contact list from a different computer?

thanks for your help.
