Have the discussion group searches been disabled? I cannot even search for a
"text" thread but it returns the search form.

They've always been flaky.

Try searching the newsgroups using http://groups.google.com. Use the Advanced
search to limit the search to this group, or the Access groups in general.
It's not perfect either but if the Microsoft search isn't working, try Google
(and vice versa).
