When I try to search for something on my computer using the search feature
the, it starts out as though it is going to search but the search never
happens and the computer freezes up. What can I do to correct this

To disable the Indexing service:

Go to Start/Administrative Tools/Services. Double click Services an
find the Indexing Service. Double click/properties/Stop. From th
Status Type Box, select Disable
