Lance

I just tried using my search application on windows xp to
locate a file. Well when I clicked search, this error
message popped up. "A file that is required to run
Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run
setup." I have no clue what this means or what file I
need to make the search tool work again. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Hi Lance,

Open Explorer and go to the Windows\Inf folder. Locate the srchasst.inf
file. Right click it and select Install. You'll need your XP CD or the files
from the I386 folder.

The Windows\Inf folder is a hidden folder. You may need to adjust your
Windows Explorer options to show hidden files and folders. You can also
click Start, Run and enter %SystemRoot%\Inf to open directly to the Inf
folder.
