Search no longer works

When I try to run search, I get the following message: "A file that is
required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run
setup." (It sure would be nice if it told me which file.)

If I try to run setup, I'm told to use Control Panel, but nothing that's
listed in Windows Components is obviously related to Search. What do I need
to do?

Reinstall the Search Companion Files:

1. Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions.
2. Click Start, click Run, type: %systemroot%\inf , and then click OK.
3. Locate the "Srchasst.inf" file.
4. Right-click the "Srchasst.inf" file, and then click Install. This reinstalls the files
that Seach Companion uses.

NOTE: You may need your Windows XP CD-ROM to finish installing Search Companion.

Thanks. Carey. That worked.

I responded to your post previously, but my response isn't showing up. So I
apologize if this is a duplicate posting.
