When searching for a file, I usually type the file type
preceded by *. (for example: *.exe), and then I click
Search. The Search window keeps an inventory of, or
saves, all the files that I have searched in the past.
As soon as I type "*", a dropdown list appears with all
the files I had searched for before. My question is:
How can I delete the list? Every time I go to the Search
Function I want a clean slate. How do I do that? Other
people have access to my computer and I don't necessarily
want them to know what I have been searching for.

Manual Edit:

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru

To prevent keeping a history altogether, right click ACMru/Permissions/Deny
all users and groups listed.

Alternatively, IE/Search/Change Preferences/Turn AutoComplete Off
