Search function not working properly

I use XP prof with SP2 and everything up to date. The file search facility
has now stopped working correctly. When I search say for all pdf files
*.pdf or even just a file with "cv" in the files name, it will only search
in some but not all volumes and folders. I am suspecting that the index
files are corrupt but this is just a guess.

Can the search system get corrupted and can it be "reset"

Hi,

In the advanced search options, make sure you enable the boxes to include
system and hidden folders. These are normally not enabled by default.
