Search From Address Bar Fails

M

M and D

As you know, you can search the internet from IE 6's address bar using any search engine by typing a "?" (without the quotes) followed by what you're searching for. In my case, I set this up to work with Google. All I have to do is type ? search term in the address bar, and I get Google search results. I've been doing this for years.

Over the last few weeks, this method has started to occasionally fail. Here's an example: My 4-year old is in love with a childrens performer by the name of SteveSongs. I was looking for his website, so I type ? stevesongs in the address bar. Instead of getting Google search results, nothing happened and what I typed in the address bar was replaced by this:

http://auto.search.msn.com/response.asp?MT=stevesongs&srch=4&prov=gogl&utf8

Like I say, this only happens occasionally. Usually I get Google search results, just like I have for years.

Now I've read that certain people at Microsoft hate Google...but I won't be cynical. Why does this happen and how do I fix it?

Just tried your registration entry and I get the same google search results.
