Search Folders Inside "Deleted Items"

Advanced User: I am trying to use the new fancy color categories. Then I
want to use the "Search Folders" with the new Categorized Mail folder.
Problem is, it does not search Deleted Items! I right clicked on the folder
and "Customized it" but it does not work. I move a "yellow flagged" item to
my inbox and it get found. Delete it and it does not. I keep over a years
worth of important e-mails in deleted items!

Any thoughts?

" I keep over a years worth of important e-mails in deleted items!"
I keep my favorite sandwich in the trash can as well! :)

Anyway, you can select which folders the Search Folder applies to. Make sure
the Deleted Items folder is selected.

For the love of god and all that is holy, WHY?!?!?!?!

Do you store your will in your garbage can?
Do you keep your tax forms in the recycle bin?
Do you store fresh fruit in your trash compactor?

Then why do you keep *important* items in a Deleted Items folder?
Seriously. I want to know.

This is really one of those times where I have to pull out 'Doc, it hurts
when I do this.' 'Then don't do it.'. I mean, your answer is pretty clear.
Create a different folder. Put the 'important' items in that folder. Don't
store important things in a trash can.

#1 By "Customized it" I should have been more clear. I customized it to make
sure it included only deleted items (even though if you look by default it
states it is searching all folders). I messed with all kinds of different
options on which folders to search, and it does not seem to want to search
deleted items!

#2 Really just looking for an answer to the above question. I store
everything in deleted items because with hundreds of e-mails a day, I would
not like to spend most of my day dragging. A simple press of the delete key
works fine! Plus I cannot drag them easily with my Treo, but I can delete
them. I have used this technique of storing items in deleted since Schedule+
or something. This is the first time it has been a problem! With the new
search capacity in Outlook I really don;t need the Search folder, it just
seems convenient!

When you use the "Search All Items" link in 2007 it has a checkbox that
searches Deleted Items. When you use the "Activities" in a contact it
searches Deleted items.

Is this a bug on my machine or can others replicate this issue?

I only added advanced user to avoid basic answers.

Why store them there? Fundamentally Deleted items is no different than any
other folder. With the "empty deleted items on exit" unchecked, through
years of using Outlook there has been no difference between deleted items and
other folder. A key stroke is always faster than a drag. Thanks for the
quick answer!
