Search Feature on page with Includes

We're creating a Search field in the Navigation bar. This page utilizes an
Included Content page. I'm having two problems:

1. I can't seem to edit the text and/or hard returns, etc.

2. I'm getting an error message stating that "search components do not work
on Included Pages."

Have any of you run across these issues?

The search component need to be inserted on a standard page, formatting is very limited, create a
external CSS file and apply that to the page.
