Search engines hijacked?!

G

G Smith

In XP Pro, regardless of browser, most common search
engines are not working. Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.
What has happened to my machine and how can I fix it?
Adaware, Spybot, Housecall - all say there is nothing wrong.
Please HELP!!
Thank you.

You might have been infected with the Trojan.Qhost bug
The new Qhosts bug exploits the unpatched residual vulnerability i
MS03-032

Information regarding this can be found here
http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100719.htm an
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.qhosts.htm

The removal tool for this trojan is available here
http://software.brown.edu/dist/w-cleanqhosts.htm

The bug sets all search values to google. You may wish to change you
configuration on your Interne
Explorer search settings as desired, if you don't want google

To prevent this exploit, install the critical update described b
bulletin MS03-040 and KB828750. To test your browser vulnerability t
this exploit, see http://www.secunia.com/MS03-032/

Regardless of browser - it's busted Firefox as well.
Doesn't seem to have a prticular redirect, definitely not
to Google though so it's not QHOSTS.
Still no idea though..?

Sadly it's not reset too Google. Google doesn't respond
either.
Not browser specific either - Firefox is gone too.

Go to http://aumha.org/a/parasite.php#quickfix and
download CWShredder. It will find a lot of spyware and
hijackers that ad awre and spybot miss or don't remove
corectly. I had a similar problem and someone from this
site sent me there. It found several other spys that noe
of the 3 spyware programs I run were able to find. That
site also has some good info on these spyware and
hijackers.
