Search engine links

I've had my page published to our web host now for
a few days. I put pertinant data in the meta tags and
I also created an account at Google and verified the
site and then put their emailed link into my index file.
But our site does not come up on a search yet.
Any pointers on specific meta tags I need or other
things I can do to actually get the URL to come
up on a search.

It may be months before your pages appear in any search engine, even
when submitted to the SEs. Probably the quickest way to get listed is
to have links to your site on websites dealing with similar subject
matter that are listed on the search engines.

It has been my experience that the search engines may take quite a long time
to spider a site but when it has been done the updates can be fairly up to
date.

I once put up a new page on my site and just for fun googled it 6 or 7 hours
later. To my surprise, it was already on Google AND translated into
Japanese.
