Search does not find files

I am running Windows XP with all of the latest updates. For some reason
when I do a search and type in a file name with a wild card, say, *.dbx it
does not report any files at all. Any idea how to fix it?

When you bring up the Search "All Files and Folders" be sure to click on the
"More Advanced Options" selection and check "Search System Folders" and
"Search Hidden Files and Folders".
