Hi,
In 'search' my search companion is missing.I do not have
the facility to use advanced search options, how do I get
it back? The help files tell me to
To change the appearance of Search Companion
Click Start, and then click Search.
Click Change preferences.
Click Change files and folders search behavior.
Click Standard to be able to search for a variety of
things, such as files, folders, and people, from one
location.
-or-

Click Advanced to quickly display the options to search
for files and folders.
I do not have a button that allows me to change
preferences/Click Change files and folders search behavior
What do I do to get it back to normal?

TIA

Click Start | Run and type "regsvr32 /i c:\windows\srchasst\srchui.dll"

If this does not help:

1. Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator
permissions.
2. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
4. Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This
reinstalls the files that Search Companion uses.

NOTE: If you are prompted for the location of msgr3en.dll and your computer
came with Windows XP preinstalled, it is likely to be at C:\Windows\i386.
Type C:\Windows\i386 into the Copy Files From dialog and press OK.

Also, see a-z page at Kelly's site: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com

You are a genius Ramesh, it worked by typing in the first
string into 'RUN' that you gave me. What caused me to
lose it in the first place and how the heck would I have
known how to get it back as help and support don't tell
me what to do?
Thanks a million you truly are a most valued professional

In Need Of Help

I Need Some Help, And Need It Badly... While Attempting To Move Software And Image From One Flash Card To Another, I Accidentally, Re-located Them, To Who Know Where, On The Computer I Was On... [AS IT WAS A PUBLIC COMPUTER, WHEN I DID THIS] WHILE I WAS ABLE TO LEFT CLICK, I WAS NOT ABLE TO RIGHT CLICK, TO TO CALL THE SEARCH COMPANION, TO SEE WHERE THEY MIGHT HAVE GONE.... [THE SETTING IS DISABLED, AND NOT AVAILABLE THROUGH THE STANDARD WAY THAT YOU CAN CALL IT UP, THOUGH I HAVE GOTTEN THE SEARCH COMPANION IN THE PAST, THROUGH A NONE HACKER WAY] CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A ALTERNATE WAY OF GETTING THE SEARCH COMPANION, SINCE THE RIGHT CLICK OPTION TO SEARCH FOR IT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO TO ME?... SO THAT I CAN GO ABOUT LOOKING FOR MY LOST SOFTWARE FILES & IMAGES?.... I HOPE THAT YOU CAN HELP, IN THIS MATTER...
