Search Companion Missing File

My windows xp search companion is suddenly missing a file or files that allow
it to work. Not sure what it is missing or if there is a way to recover
without having to reinstall windows which I would really prefer not to do. If
you know of what I can do, or where I can get files to fix it, I would really
appreciate a response. Thanks

Hi Milenko,

Try reinstalling the Search Companion files and see if that resolves the
problem.......

Go to Start>Run and key in:
%systemroot%\inf
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Locate the Srchasst.inf file, right-click on this file and then select
Install.
Have the install CD ready to insert if prompted to do so.

Regards,
