Search companion window is blank. Cannot do a file
search. Any suggestions on how to reinstall this
function.

Log on to the computer by using an account with administrator permissions.
Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%\inf, and then click OK.
Locate the Srchasst.inf file.
Right-click the Srchasst.inf file, and then click Install. This reinstalls
the files that Search Companion uses.

or download a patch:

the problem.

Thanks,

There may be something for you at Kelly's site, below.
Click on "S" and scroll down to...

Error: "A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found.
You may need to run setup".
