Search Capability Disappeared

When I want to do a search of the files on my computer
and click "Start" then "Search" the window opens without
the necessary blocks to enter the information to search.
Just a blank window. Appreciate any help.
 
Click on an empty spot on task bar-select 'Properties'-
then 'Start Menu' Tab,Click on 'Customize'
then 'Advanced' tab scroll down to 'Search' check box
 
Gave it a try, but it did not work. The ability to search
is there, but when the window opens there is not anything
there to input. No blocks, nothing.
