Search and open excel workbooks from a master workbook

My predecessor has saved hundreds of workbooks on a server; each workbook is
a job number. Is it possible (and/or) how to search the server and open a
workbook from a master workbook?

This is a neat trick:

File > Open > and then browse until you locate the folder on the server that
contains the workbooks. Then:

Tools > Add to "My Places"

At this point you have customized your File Open Dialog box so you can
easily go to the folder and rummage around.
