scrolling problem between reading pane and inbox

Whenever I've got Outlook Inbox open with the bottom 1/2 of my screen open as
the "reading pane", I think its called. When I left click to focus on the
reading pane mail message I wish to read, and I use the scroll on my mouse to
view the remainder of the mail message, not only does that message I'm
focused on scroll, but the inbox (open above this reading pane) scrolls also.
This is annoying because when I return and click on the Inbox to view the
next mail message it's scrolled out of sight... Anybody know the fix for
this or encountered the same problem? I'm running Outlook 2003 (SP1) from
Office Student Teacher 2003

Thanks, RB

I don't think Office 2003 Service Pack will change that behavior but I
recommend to update anyway. Also what mouse and mouse drivers are you using?

I'm using a Logitech keyboard/mouse combo set, ~1 y.o., corded, optical
mouse, model is M-BJ67B, p/n 830729-0000, 2 button w/ scroll wheel, Logitech
mouse driver ver 9.61... still looking for a solution (yea, yea, aren't we
all)
