scrolling optical mouse problem

I am having problems getting the wheel to scroll with several applications
and cannot find any setting within the apps to deal with this problem. I
have downloaded the lastest scrolling optical mouse drivers from MS and
tried resetting the application specific settings to no avail. I was able to
accomplish this on a previous pc with XP running but cannot with my present
two PCs, an HP Pavilion a520n and a Gateway 504GR. Cannot find any mouse
drivers at the HP site.

This may not be considered an XP situation but I cannot find any other
forums to deal with this. Appreciate any help possible. Have received help
on other situations and appreciate you folks being here.

Check the settings in TweakUI > Mouse > Wheel.
