Scrolling is jerky

I installed Windows XP upgrade, and now any scrolling I
do beyond the limits of one screen is jumpy as though
each shift up or down is a new screen. It is like it is
scrolling "in waves." Is this a problem with the
installation or is there a setting that will fix this?

Sounds like a Memory problem. Idealy XP likes about 120MB RAM.

Just a thought...

I'm not sure what you mean by "installed Windows XP Upgrade". Do you
mean you bought WinXP and installed it on top of your older Windows
operating system? You probably need to install XP drivers for your
video card and possibly the mouse (if it's a specialized one).

I used a windows upgrade from Windows 98 to XP. Yes,
installed on top of the older Windows version (98). I
assumed all the drivers I needed would have been included
with the upgrade, since it was developed for that purpose.

Where else would I get XP drivers?

isscrolling "in waves."

(snip)

You assumed incorrectly. You get drivers for hardware from the mftr.'s
website. Be sure to read all pertinent installation instructions they
provide. If you don't know what hardware is in your machine, find out
by 1)looking in Device Manager; or 2) download and install the free
Aida32 program (Google for address) which will tell you all sorts of
information about your system.

You were exactly right. Drivers were the problem. I had
removed them (without knowing what I was doing) per
instructions during the windows upgrade installation.

Thanks for your help.
