Scrolling down

I understand that the wheel on my mouse can control the zoom in or out.
However, how do I then scroll up or down in a document?

Hmmm... mine seems to be acting a little different. It zooms whenever I move
the mouse wheel when I'm not holding any key. When I hold down the control
key while moving the wheel, nothing different happens, as it still zooms. The
shift key doesn't seem to have any effect either.
