Scrolling bar in the IE messed up

This is not happening all the time. It happens either just open IE and using
it for few minutes, or on the IE for quite long time. The sympton is when
click the scrolling bar and try to scroll up (try to move to the top of the
page), after release the scrolling bar, it scrolls by itself, some time
up/down few times, and back to the bottom of the page. Only restart the IE
does not correct the problem. I have to restart the system. I am in Windows
XP spk3. Any one has the same problem?

Not me. What kind of system are you running, desktop or notebook? Wireless
mouse, touchpad, or corded? Have you tried a different mouse?

sometimes, reinstalling
the ie helps resolves
instability.

also, you can analyze
the performance of the
browser via safe mode
w/networking.

My system is Window Xp with Spk3 in laptop. The IE is version7. I did
install IE 8 from Windows Update and the Chinese characters were messed up.
So, I removed the IE 8 and it is back to IE 7. The laptop is sitting on a
dock and mouse is attached to the dock (wired, not wireless). I don't think
it is the mouse problem.

Since it does not happen all the time and I don't know how to create it, I
will try other mouse as you suggested when the symption happens again.
Thanks.

After I posted the questions, I found that the problem is not only for IE.
It is for the scrolling bar. It does not happen all the time. But, when it
happens, I have no way to control the scrolling bar. I.e. use the mouse to
move the scrolling, then release the mouse, the scrolling bar will scroll by
it self and stop at some point, may be the middle of the page, or bottom of
the page. I had the problem first while I was in IE. Now, the problem is
also happen on any window which has the scrolling bar. My system is Windows
with SPK3. I am using a mouse attache to the USB port.
