"Scripts are usually safe" keeps popping up

Everytime I change web pages, or click on a link, or hit the Back or Forward button, a
window pops up with this message:

"Scripts are usually safe. Do you want to allow scripts to run?" I have to answer Yes
or No before the browser can proceed with what it is doing(changing web pages, etc...).

Can someone tell me how to get rid of this message, it's really annoying and sometimes
pops up 2-3 times in quick succession from just one mouse click.

Tools/Internet Options/Security
Click the Custom level. Under ActiveX plugins, some of the setting must be
"Prompt"
Change them to enable.

John,
Open IE and click [Tools] > [Internet Options...] >
[Advanced Options] (it may not say options after
advanced)... anyway - there will be a check box that
basically asks you whether you want to be notified before
running scripts.

Another thing that may be causing this is your content
advisor. this too can be changed in the IE toolbox.

Henri,

I changed every ActiveX choice to "enable." But alas the problem remains. Do you have
any other suggestions? And are there some ActiveX choices that should really be left on
"prompt".

In Windows2000, IE6 I looked under Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and there were only
two lines with checkboxes that used the word "script".

disable script debuging (which
I have checked)
display a notification about every script error (which I have
unchecked)

So far the only way I've found to turn off this "Scripts are usually safe" popup is to
set Security to Medium-Low. I don't know if this is good or bad for me but at least I
don't have 2-4 of these pop-ups everytime I click on a link or switch websites.

I'd like to find the line you mentioned, about notifying me before running scripts. If
you can think of anywhere else I could look for it, please let me know.

Tools | Internet Options | Security
Highlight Internet zone and click Custom Level.
Review the settings.

Also, eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

You have some custom security settings which are giving you a prompt
in order to allow scripting. You could change that either by clicking on
Default Level or by clicking on Custom Level... and then on Enable
under Scripting, Active Scripting.
