Hi NG,

could someone please tell me,Step by Step (the blond version :-) ) how a
screenshot is done? I have had about 1000000000 people try to explain it,
with one tip here and another tip there; and nothing seems to work. I am
running XP Pro and am damn good at it if I may add; but this one simple task
has eluded me for some time now. I would appreciate it greatly if someone
could help me with this extremely blond activity. :-)

Thanks in advance

Earl

Earl is not a blond name.

Easy way, www.analogx.com and get program called CAPTURE.
It does screen shots and handles saving the file where you
want to save it. You can then use or edit the photo as you
want.

This site has full instruction, I found it on Google

Hi Earl,

To capture the whole screen, press PrtScn. To capture just the active
window, Press Alt and hold it while you press PrtScn.

This will capture the image to the clipboard. You will then need to open a
program that will accept the image, such as Word, Wordpad or MS Paint. From
the edit menu, choose paste. That will paste the image to your document.

Back in the days of DOS, the PrintScrn key used to print the
screen. But in all versions of Windows, this works differently,
and the name of the key is now an anachronism.

To use the key, press it to capture an image of the entire
screen, or press alt-PrintScrn to capture an image of the active
window. Either one captures the image to the Windows clipboard.
Once it's in the clipboard you can paste (Ctrl-V) it into any
application that supports graphics (Windows Paint, other graphics
programs, even your favorite word processor). You can edit or add
to the image as you wish, then print it.

This ability to manipulate the image in a program before printing
it is an improvement over the original DOS method of just
printing it. But if you'd like that old facility back, there are
several third-party freeware/shareware programs that can do this.

Don't waste your time , get this free

Try this, It's a capture utility that you hit F6 to
engage, move your pointer to where you want to start,
left click and draw the rectangle to the size you wish to
capture ( from a pinhead to a full screen ) release the
key and it's saved as a .jpg to the folder of your
choice. Did I mention it's free.

Press the PrtScrn key to capture the whole desktop. Alt/PrtScrn to capture
only the active window. (You won't notice anything happening, for it is
just storing in the clipboard)

Either:
Open the clipboard, (Start/Run/clipbrd), and save out.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\clipbrd.exe or,

Open Paint, Irfanview, or any image program. In Paint or Irfanview, you
usually can immediately press CTRL/V to paste the contents of the clipboard,
then save out. Any other image program you may need to open a new document
before pasting.

Doesn't get much easier than that...;?)

heh heh , I guess it depends on where you want to take a picture :>

if you want a screenshot of whats on your screen right now...look for a key
on your keyboard that says "print screen" ok?

now go to start>programs>accessories and open "paint" program. ok?

right click and paste (or edit menu paste)

and picture of your screen should be there (might popup with a little
warning that picture is too big , just say yes)

as for dong it elsewhere , we'll need a little more info :>

hope that helps

Press Print Screen. Then go to whatever app you want to
insert it into and paste.

If you've tried a billion ways maybe that won't work for
you but it does for me.

Greetings --

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display to the
clipboard. Pressing <ALT>+<PrtScn> copies only the active Window to
the clipboard (iow, into RAM). To view the screen capture, open a
graphics program, such as MS Paint, and press <CTRL>+V. This will
paste the contents of the clipboard (your screenshot) into the open
file, and allow you to view it or save it as a file for later use.
