To make a screen-shot, there are two things to consider.
First, do you want to take a shot of the WHOLE screen or
just an active window? If you wish to take the screen-shot
of only the ACTIVE window, hold down the ALT key on your
keyboard and tap PRINT SCREEN key ONCE... This will
save the information to the clipboard... Now open any Image
program and click FILE/NEW and in the resulting window,
click EDIT/PASTE and the picture will be in the program
you opened. There are some image programs that might work
slightly different, but for most this will work...
NOWTHEN, if you want the entire screen as a screen-shot,
hit the PRINT SCREEN key once WithOut holding ALT key.
When you have achieved the above into the graphics program
you might want to resize or otherwise crop the image.. This
varies from program to program.. Once you have it the way
you want it, click FILE/SAVE AS and send it to folder of
of your choice, be sure and put a filename on it and in the SAVE
AS TYPE, it will probably be best to select .jpg or jpeg from
the drop-down menu in order to keep the file size down to a
respectable level. If you plan on printing the image, you might
want to leave it as a bmp.. However, most jpg's will print
satisfactorly as jpg's..
That should do it.
