Screenshot of active window

Is there a way of taking a screenshot, just of the active
window without dumping eveything outside of it into the
clipboard ?

I'm trying to write a large set of installation
instructions and I am popping a screen shot into paint
and then cutting out the bits I don't want which is
taking forever

Try <alt-printscreen>
or install one of the many screen capture programs that are available via
the Net. Search for that term at http://google.com.

Alt-PrSc puts the active window in the clipboard
