Screensavers

Are there any decent free screensavers for Vista somewhere? The ones that
come installed on Windows Vista Home Premium are just ghastly. I really miss
the beautiful screen savers that came with Win98, especially the aquarium
and the jungle. TIA

And you played Solitaire all the time too, right?

Right. And the Vista version is really, really bad. Good thing I have
an XP virtual machine inside by Vista box :)

Just Google " free Vista screensavers".

Thank you, I have checked for screensavers, but didn't want to download a
bunch of spyware type things along with them. I had a problem with a pop up
for a long time on my other computer, and never could get rid of it, even
with Pop Up Stopper, so that's why I asked.

If I did, at least I was in better company. Your answer was very helpful.

dreamscene content of a home video of my kids waving to the camera
makes you feel all homely

A little friendly advice - don't bite hands that feed you. Making
sarcastic and abusive responses to people is a sure way to NOT get any
more help when you really need it. If you just ignore the unresponsive
posts you'll have better luck.

Cheri. The screensavers you refer to were not actually part of Windows (98 or otherwise) but rather part of a package called Windows Plus.
Some of the computer manufacturers included it, at no cost, as a mean of getting you to buy their brand. For a while stand alone copies of Windows Plus were for sale, but I can't find any now. Free screen savers are a risk. By the way, screen savers no longer are required to save the screen. New monitors don't burn like the old monitor did. Screen savers function only as entertainment now.

In this group? You need to make some acidic remarks just to fit in.

Thank you, I appreciate the helpful response, and I have decided not to
download any of the free ones. You're right, I don't need them.

I only make sarcastic remarks to people that give sarcastic answers, and
personally...I really don't care if they're offended by it or not because I
usually never read them again. As in all the help newsgroups, you always
have the small crowd that only exists to make somebody feel stupid for
asking, and you have people that are willing to help. I have asked very few
questions in the past ten years to help groups, and I always get a helpful
response from someone, which is the case in this thread too, but thanks for
the advice. At least it wasn't hateful. :)

Really? Do they sit there watching their spellchecker instead?

OTOH, there's a remote possibility that those sarcastic answers might
offend others than the intended target.

There's a remote possibility that somebody can find something offensive in
anything that is posted, but the people who take the time to be helpful,
actually do try to help, and spend their time helping, instead of giving
smart-assed answers and being offended by posts that have nothing to do with
them IMO. Please accept my apology if I've offended you, and I'm done with
this thread.

(Cheri, you might find a spell checker to be of some use.)
Actually, from what I've seen in this group, many of them sit there
watching their defragmenter program at work. :)

Or like you and me, they spend their time posting dumb crap resulting
in the waste of other people's time.

I just watched a defrag of two hard drives and two virtual disks
(seven partitions) - since it took 32 seconds, I now have plenty of
time available for stuff like this.

So, there you go... took longer to read and reply (and spell check)
than it did to watch a defrag. The disappointing part is that a
screen saver didn't fire up.
