Screensavers will not initialize

G

Guest

My computer is running XP Home/SP2 with all updates. I was in the process of
setting it up and somewhere along the way noticed that my screensavers will
not initialize......none of them. I have tried different time settings and
nothing will work. I can click on preview and all screensavers work, the
just won't initialize on their on. I don't have any wireless devices. I
checked my system resources and nothing is initiating that would reset the
timeout counter. I have not downloaded any third-party screensavers.....only
the ones that came with XP and Plus......Thanks in advance for any
help......Bill Gibbs

The screen saver does not work when you use a Wireless Optical
Desktop mouse on a Windows XP SP2-based computer

my screen saver works just fine on XP Pro SP2 using an HP wireless
keyboard and wireless mouse.

Wesley, I rolled my System restore back several program installations prior
to the problem and got my screensaver function back....I reloaded the
programs after making a restore point prior to each one. I got everything
installed and did not have the problem that I had previously. I'll chalk it
up to "Sunspots" or the generic "negative waves"......I have no idea what
caused it, I just know that it didn't do it the second time around. System
Restore is our friend....Thanks for your replies...Bill G

Nope, after the POS Dell I bought my daughter a few years back, you
couldn't give me one today. Later in this same thread I had to
chuckle thinking about M$ screwing up their own mouse with their
own O/S. Guess when Bill the Gates says he hires nothing but the
best and brightest, that doesn't include alpha testers!

Ya it is only M$'s wireless products that cause the problem--go figure

Yep, I commented on this "strange" coincidence elsewhere today.
Either Bill the Gates doesn't really hire the best and brightest or
they blew it. Or, maybe somebody noticed but the "suits" made the
decision not to fix it.
