screensaver

Can anyone help...I recently changed my screensaver to new setting,,,adjusted
wait period for 5 minutes to activate screensaver,,,,my promblem is that
screensaver won't come on ,,,,I set it for 5 minutes and never started
up,,,have waited as long as 20 minutes,,,,still won't work,,,,what have I
done wrong...
This is my procedure that I followed,,,clicked start ,,,then clicked control
panel...then I clicked appearance and themes menu...then I clicked
display...menu came up and I went to screensaver feature,,,changed setting
and pressed apply,,,,that should do it,,,but,,,it won't work,,,
can anyone help!!!!!!!!!don't know what is wrong......

You must have some other application over-riding the setting. Some utility
or Norton or ...

I set screensaver once more using procedure as stated in previous
request,,,rebooted system as you stated,,,still won't work,,,have it set for
5 minutes,,,won't come on..waited up to 15 minutes,,,still won't work,,any
other suggessions as to what is wrong would be appreciated,,,can't figure
out what's wrong...

Gut feel is that you have something running in the background such as a
virus scanner.

Do you, by any chance, have Norton System Works 06 or 07? If you do
then there is a program called System Optimizer (in Norton Protectio
Center 07 under Norton System Works tab it is listed under Tasks the
select
Optimize Your PC then select System Optimizer)

When System Optimizer opens select Control Panel to the left side o
window. Scroll down to Screensaver. Remove the screensaver name an
uncheck Password Protect. You can leave the grace period or remove it
your choice. Click Apply and back out. Restart your system. Afte
restart, right click anywhere on desktop and select properties then th
SS tab. Change your settings and then click Preview, see if that helps

I don't have Norton System Works but I do have Norton AntiVirusis 2006....It
has no listing for System Optimizer...any other suggussions would be
appreciated,,thanks for the help.....
