Can't change screensaver!

I am unable to change my screensaver. When i go to the screensaver tab
in display properties, the screen saver shows a greyed out "windows XP"
and the drop down box is unselectable. I can't change the wait time
either. Settings says that there are no settings for this screen saver
and preview pops up the XP logo. I have multiple screensavers, so why
can't I select them?

How in the world did this kelly person ever figure out what each of
those settings does?
