ScreenSaver

A very strange occurrence has occurred. I have lost the ability on my
desktop to have a screen saver. It shows up in properties but it never
actually runs. The preview works but, that is all. I did just re
install NAV2006 could that be the problem? Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Is this only one ss that won't work or all?
Is it a ss you installed?
Is the ss in c:\windows\system32?
Under display properties > Screensaver tab, what is the time you have set
for inactivity under the ss name before the ss activates?

For a simple test you can create a shortcut to the ss on the desktop and
double click it to see if it will run. Double clicking should run the ss
immediately and deactivate at any key press or mouse movement.
You could also set a shortcut key combo in the shortcuts properties. By
pressing the shortcut keys it should activate the ss immediately.

Thank you, yes the ss is in System32 directory and yes the shortcut does
activate immediately. I had various times set for inactivity 10
mins. down to 1 minute.

So what I gather now is the ss activates from the shortcut yet won't
activate when the machine is idle for a set amount of time. To see if
something is running that keeps the ss from activating, start it from the
shortcut and wait to see if it deactivates. If it does you need to find
out what's running so often that keeps the ss from starting.

I'll give it a try. This is very peculiar situation.
