Screensaver will not activate ?

windows xp Home edtion , Need help with the Screensaver? It will not activate
after it has been sitting for the lotted time I have set for it. I have tried
safe mode to see if there was any problems but did not find anything . Though
the screensaver will let you pre-view the settings but it will not activate
after sitting.If someone knows what the problem is can you please help. Thank

Is there another application running, possibly even in the background that keeps
the screensaver from executing? Test by shutting down all running applications to
see if the ss activates.
