Screensaver stopped working

Screensaver stopped working. Used to work - set to be
password protected and set at 5 minutes. Now, after 5
minutes, it blinks on the screen and doesn't lock or go to
screensaver. Also, screensaver shortcut button does not
work. Works in Preview. Please help!

You've got some process running that "wakes up" the screensaver instantly or
prevents it from running altogether.
