screensaver password reset

I have not changed my password---somehow the computer did
and i can not now set my screenword password to activate
because it wont let my password work, does anyone know
how to reset this password? on the preference tab it only
says *on resume-password protect* i dont see anywhere
where i can reset it or change it

There is no specific password for the screen saver. The option you're referring to simply requires that any user, using their username and password log on to the machine, once the screen saver is active.
 
this is not my start up password, that works fine, its my
screen saver password. Its when i leave my desk for 8
minutes or so and come back, my screen saver is floating
around and it then asks me for a password, it wont let me
back in. I cant find where ti change that password. In
the properties where i check to have that option or not
have that option is no place to change the password.
